EARLY BIYC ACTIVITIES

MODEL YACHT 1924

One of the original activities of BIYC was to build & sail model yachts.

TOURNAMENT OF LIGHTS PARADE 1949

Before they had the Christmas boat parade, they held a summertime night time “tournament of lights” parade. Pictured is the BIYC entry in the parade.

In the old days, only the Commodore started races.

Until the Carroll Beek Center was built by the park, BIYC meetings were held on Friday evenings on the South Bay Front between the ferry office and the fishing shop in the space currently used for the strawberry stand. In the 60s and 70s, it was very basic - just a brick floor and a few benches… Prior to that, there was an awning above with some lattice “walls."
